Sunset Over San Francisco

I love the green on this Paul & Joe top. It makes me feel like Christmas every time I wear it, especially with the Lurex, which reminds me of tinsel. I didn't want the tinsel to get lonely sparkling all by itself, so I added some shiny bling. Oh yeah, and I finally found a gray nail polish I love. Even my mama likes it!

Fab or Fug: Gym Wear as Street Wear

Here's what I wore on Sunday to meet my friend Nancy C. for brunch, then out shopping, and then to meet another friend for This Is It (the MJ movie).

This marks my second foray into the Leggings-as-Pants faction. I'll admit I was still skeptical, but Nancy convinced me I needed these during an earlier outing to Zara. There's a slimming seam running up the middle on the front and back, which I noted as I tried to convince myself that they could pass for remotely pant-like. Yeah, they can't. In real life, there's no denying I was running around in flat-out leggings all day long. In public. But you know what? I can't think of a comfier pair of pants I own (aside from the tap, sweat and lounge varieties).

So what if I came home and Huz said, after giving me an up-and-down and seeing my socks pulled up over my leggings like legwarmers, "You been at the gym or something?"

Right?

Right?

Fab or fug?

P.S. I picked up the earrings (pardon that nostril shot; it was the best angle I could get!) and the scarf that day, too. Don't you love it when you find something you absolutely have to wear immediately?

Pleather Principle

As an animal loving, earth-adoring person and for various other reasons, I try to avoid buying new leather products (aside from shoes, which is a whole other level of super-challenge). That said, I love me some fine quality vintage leather (as long as I'm not contributing to the demand for new leather products, I think it's a great material). I also love fake leather done right. So you can imagine how tickled I was when I came across this patent beauty on Anique Michelle.

Anique was lovely enough bestow me with this pretty number even though it was the last one in stock. So in the interest of being more than a greedy bag lady, I'd like to share some of my favorite picks from Anique's new fall merchandise before I gobble them all up and there's none left for you.

Aren't these so dainty and cute? The pendant is shaped like a bean!

I love bright orange, and who can resist a cozy, sweater-y infinity scarf? Not me, chickens.

I'm not normally a fan of plaid (yes, I know it's back, but I just haven't gotten on board). However, this jacket is inexplicably cute to me. I can imagine wearing it on a bear hunt, although I can also imagine a lot of eye-rolling from the other hunters if I actually did so. Better keep it to the streets.

Ah! My favorite pick! A tough biker jacket, no biking required. Perfect over an LBD or a pencil skirt.

Highway to the Danger Zone

A little but very awesome birdie left me a comment (thanks, chicken! XO!) to let me know that ModCloth has restocked some of the famed Jeffrey Campbell Unicorn Princess pumps shoes (does anyone else hate the word "pumps"?). If you're a regular reader, you probably already know I have a crazy obsession with these ridiculously girlie nuggets. And by "ridiculous," I (of course) mean "amazing." I got waitlisted for a pair of these bad girls months ago, and finally got them in blush. Verdict: I love 'em, but I can't say they're worth the price tag.

But now here they are again, this time in a more seasonally appropriate closed-toe black and holiday-ready pewter. Would it be nuts to snatch these up, too? I think it might be time to divert this crazy obsession elsewhere. Suggestions?

Stripety Do Dah

I picked up this stripey vintage sweater tank on a recent outing to Anica, and I gotta say, I love, love, love it! To be fair, I'm partial to vintage, I love pockets (dig the kangaroo pocket!), I tend toward sleevelessness way more often than is advisable, and I have a borderline creepy obsession with cozy sweater-y things. Oh, and I'm an unabashed fan of wearing horizontal stripes. Yeah, this is what love looks like.

You Know What Time It Is

It's time to pick a winner!

It occurred to me that the winner of the Anique Michelle giveaway should be chosen at random, so I had a friend pick a number between 1 and 16 (the number of comments on the giveaway post) and she chose 5. That means the winner is commenter #5, the lovely Lauren of
Paper Gown Supermodel! Lauren and I are relatively new bloggy friends, and I'm so glad. I'm incredibly inspired by her positive outlook on life. If you don't know about her blog, run on over and check it out. Tell her I said hello! She is an amazing girl, and you'll love the gorgeous autumnal photos she's just put up--all skies afire, cute Halloween cupcakes and some pretty crafty Jack O' Lanterns! Lauren, shoot me an email and let me know where to send your loot!

Thanks to everyone for participating, and to Anique Michelle for sponsoring the giveaway! This was so fun. I'll definitely be hosting more in the near future, so stay tuned!

Like Easter for Your Fingers

The other day I was discussing nail colors with a friend of mine who has a very classic style (including her nail style: always a pretty red), so I was surprised to hear her say she liked the new blues and greens. I know they're all over the place these days, but I am personally very much against them. It's not just that I'm imagining looking back and cringing at photos of statement nails. I don't know how to explain it. It's really just the blues and greens. And I should clarify that I only feel this way about wearing them myself; I've seen them look dandy on other people.

Getting dressed is almost always fun for me, and I've always loved experimenting with trends, but I realized during that conversation that I am a big old nail prude.
Metallics I can do. Dark burgundies I can do. Orange-y corals. Hot pinks. But these all fall within the "safe" realm, right? This is about as much as I mix it up when it comes to ye olde talons.

However! I finally took a leap and got on board with this Pamplona Purple from OPI. The dude at The Beauty Company even caught me rationalizing out loud in the aisle: "Purple is kind of like pink..."

I think it looks like I've been playing in Easter egg dye. What do y'all think?

P.S. Even though this purple turned out differently than I'd imagined, I'm still committed to torturing my inner Nail Prude a bit. I'm thinking gray is next. Any suggestions?

P.P.S. I popped into Anica over the weekend and had an excellent experience. It was always the kind of place I strolled by and window-shopped before, mostly because I thought it was out of my budget, but on Sunday I found two tops (including this super fun Cheap Monday top), both under $60, that I ended up taking home. I also discovered a great vintage section in the back. I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the neighborhood!

Pick Your Tongue Up Off the Floor, Chick

What's going on, you say? Oh, not much. Just sitting here in puddles of my own drool after discovering this sparkly tidbit over at Brook&Lyn. Gah. What I wouldn't give to have this sparkler looped around my neck like some kind of beaded good-luck charm. No biggie. Just change-your-life amazing.

It's All There in Black & White

I usually don't have a lot of face-to-face client meetings, but lately that's been ramping up. Here's what I wore to a business dinner at Hyde Street Seafood the other day. Man, do I love that place (see here and here).

Also: it took a while, but the new French mani (with dark tips) is really growing on me. What do you think, chickens?

Don't Be Scared, Chickens

Hey dudes. You might remember my friend Amy Ruth from this post. As you can see, she has consistently excellent taste in footwear. However, another reason it's fun to hang out with her (aside from her general awesomeness)is because the woman is simply not afraid to wear what she wants. I love that. Whether it's super daring or not, every time I see her, she's always wearing interesting pieces that I would never think of trying: lace gloves, a faux leopard vest. You see what I mean. And you can tell she always has fun and feels great in what she's wearing. Isn't that what it's all about? Lately I feel like I've been playing it safe and slipping into a style rut. Hanging out with Amy last week completely inspired me to do it up the way I want from now on.

So get ready! Get set!

Unrelated: since I watched Grey Gardens the other day, I've had an overwhelming urge to call everyone "chicken." If you haven't seen the movie, I promise it's an endearing (not taunting) pet name.

Until next time, chickens!

Falling for Fall

It never feels like fall to me until the weather justifies breaking out a pair of boots. That, and I always hang on to the notion of summer for as long as humanly possible--wearing summery things inappropriately early and way too late, freezing my hmm-hmm off, etc. Moving on: it's October! I'm finally ready for fall!

I couldn't quite part with all things summer, so here I am in a miniskirt. I'm not really a miniskirt girl, but the things are everywhere, and I just fell in love with this orangey-red when I saw it. And after you get used to the expanse of flesh hanging out in public, really, they're pretty comfy.

This is what I'm wearing to meet my friend Amy Ruth for happy hour later today at The Hidden Vine. She always brings it, so I decided to put on real-person clothes today despite the fact that I'm working from home. Speaking of, I have a new gig that requires some client meetings, so stay tuned for some fall office fashion in the near future!

Sunset City

I usually take my photos earlier in the day but today it was one thing after another. I swear I blinked and the day was gone! Anyway, I'm kinda digging the pre-sunset light here.

I was also super excited to rediscover this Nieves Lavi dress, which was hiding in the back of my closet. It's so fun to wear. When I first saw it, I wasn't too sure, but when I finally got it in the mail (yay! eBay!) and tried it on, it was love at second sight. It's as comfy as can be, never wrinkles and is a fantastic heavy silk jersey that ended up being perfect for the chilly afternoon today.

Land of the Living

H&M top
Abercrombie cutoffs (circa 2000)
Report Signature wedges (eBay; seen here)
Vintage wood cuff
Vintage Laurel Burch lotus earrings (eBay)
Vintage anchor button ring (Etsy; seen here)

Today was my first day back in the land of the living since (almost) recovering from my deadly (ahem) cold that had me knocked flat for the past few days. I really thought about making more of an effort but let's be real. It's ninety degrees here today and I was hungry! And missing the world outside! Here's what I ended up throwing on before running out the door.

Ugh, I know, Abercrombie. But these must be almost ten years old, and they have been lovingly tattered to pieces over the years, so they fit like a glove. So, really, I don't care where they came from. Also, I'm a bit of a vintage Laurel Burch collector. I love her cloisonne earrings. I've had this lotus blossom pair for ages. And I've been wearing this vintage anchor button from ShopKim with everything ever since I got it a few weeks ago. Love!

Huz and I ventured out for brunch at Nob Hill Grille. I've had dinner there a couple of times. It was good-not-great both times and seemed overpriced for what we ordered. I was really impressed with brunch today, though. I got the black bean veggie burger with sweet potato fries and you know how Huz does. He got the huevos rancheros. It looked meaty. He licked his plate. Generous portions, general deliciousness and all-around happy gluttony at our table.

Post script: I have a lady-date with my friend Nico to see Fame tonight! Super excited about this! Wardrobe change necessary???

Dog Days

Hey friends! Thanks for stopping by! I'm still alive (barely!). I have been sick as a dog this week and have not ventured out of the house in a few days, let alone been able to pull myself out of my pajamas and attempt real-person clothes. But I think the clouds are finally parting. I'll try to do a regular post soon. In the meantime, some recent photos for your viewing pleasure.

First, from my recent trip to Alaska. Sick as a dog: K-Dubz' adorable puppy, Java. Can't you tell what a lover she is?

I was visiting my family out in the country. This was about as close as I got to an outfit shot. Grr! Fun with bears!

My cousin K and I did some amazing hiking while I was there. En route to a hot springs.

A couple weeks later, K and Dubz came to visit me here in San Francisco and we got up to some fun times.

One day we traipsed around the Ferry Building, gathering yummy things for a picnic. We were pretty curious about those sea beans, which I'd never seen before. We tried them. Very briny, but pretty good.

Is a vacation picnic on a sunny day in San Francisco ever complete without a crisp bottle of wine to complement your tasty treats?

Eh, maybe, but we decided to round out the meal anyway. We grabbed lunch out back on the water, where the benches had lots of room for mid-week picnicking.

Also where we befriended this nice man who was busy crabbing. Success!

K-Dubz also requested an afternoon of thrifting while they were here, so we headed over to the Mission for a proper outing. I couldn't resist snapping this while we were at Thrift Town.

Just to be clear, I couldn't really discern what made this rack any better than the others. Eh. What do I know?

Thanks for stopping by! I love your comments! Be back in full effect soon!

Tourist for a Day

My cousin K and his awesome ladyfriend W (aka Dubz) are in town for three days and we have been painting the town pink. Yesterday we ate our way through Polk Street, Chinatown, North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf. We split an apple fritter from Bob's Donut, stuffed ourselves with dim sum at Pearl City, made room for caramel corn and fudge somewhere along the way, and grabbed some Irish coffees to go from Buena Vista, which we carried across the street to Aquatic Park and promptly doctored up. We impressed ourselves very much. This is the photographic evidence of our escapades. Oh how I love playing tourist in San Francisco!

P.S. This is one of three rings I just got from ShopKim on Etsy. She makes fun rings and things from vintage buttons and other materials, and lots of her pieces are one of a kind. I love, love, love all of my rings! And thanks again to my new supercute bloggy friend over at Fashion for the Economically Challenged, where I discovered ShopKim!

Fab or Fug: Jean Leggings

I really need help on this one. First, I would just like to say that I am not a proponent of wearing leggings in public if you (read: me) are not a professional supermodel, dancer or gymnast. However, I really couldn't resist when I discovered denim leggings last year on some unrelated eBay foraging mission. Intrigued, I immediately bought two pairs in two different colors. Not surprisingly, I only wore them out in public once. Here was the scenario.

Denim Leggings Out on the Town: Take 1 (Fall 2008)

My friend L-Train swings by my place to pick me up for happy hour. Excited but still dubious about my recent leggings purchase, I throw them on under a long butt-covering tunic and knee-high boots. Let's say approximately one foot of jean legging is exposed to view. This seems like a safe way to debut a potentially fug look.

I get in the car, where L-Train is waiting. I buckle my seat belt, without which L-train refuses to chauffeur me around. She also likes safety.

L-Train, staring at my exposed leggings: Dude, are those jeans?

Then, squinting: Or are they...leggings?!

Me: Ahahahaha! They're JEAN LEGGINGS!

Sometime later, we mutually decide they are "jeggings," but the conversation at the wine bar doesn't move much past that point.

I really thought they would look more like jeans. They don't. But they are dang comfy.

What do you say: fab or fug?

P.S. I finally got my Jeffrey Campbell Unicorn Princess shoes! Rejoice!

I'm Back!

I'm back from my big Alaska trip and I'm so excited to be home! Even if you love traveling, there's nothing quite like coming home to the place you love best. And as much as I love experiencing different places, a three-hour layover in the Seattle airport between three and six in the morning (after three plane trips in the previous 24 hours, and then waiting for the last leg home) is never ideal. Grumble, etc. I'm so happy to be back in San Francisco!

I realized recently that I have no less than five pairs of gold shoes. My old boss had a thing about gold shoes (she hated them; there was some story I can only partially remember about her entire sorority ganging up on one girl who had a thing for gold shoes, which culminated in a confrontation where they commanded, "No more gold shoes!") and I think that's what pushed me over the brink, from having a thing for gold shoes (love them!) to becoming a collector. Although I'm pretty sure my gold shoes changed her mind about gold shoes.

An Embarassment of Riches

Mailman seriously brought it today. A long overdue check, a birthday card and some new (vintage) bling! All in one haul. And no bills!

I hardly ever wear silver anymore, but I couldn't resist the chunky chains on this one.

I should mention that when Mailman rings me up for a signature or to drop a big package, he always says, "Hey! It's me, Mailman!" My own personal superhero.

The Best Thing About the End of Summer: SALES!!!

I love my Tuesday morning ritual. I get up and run down to the Embarcadero for a Bar Method class and then follow it up with a leisurely stroll through the farmers market at the Ferry Building. If I haven't had coffee yet, I head straight for the Blue Bottle stand before I start shopping. Usually I haven't had breakfast yet, so I have to try everything that looks delicious. Which takes a while. It's not the worst way to ease into a Tuesday.

So I did all of that yesterday morning, and on my way back to Sally, I saw that Franco Sarto was having a 70 percent off sale. (I'm kind of ambivalent about Franco Sarto and am convinced almost the entire line is based on some notion of "sensible office wear," but every now and then, they have things. I. Must. Have. And if anything's 70 percent off, no matter how ridiculous the item or how expensive it still is, it's pretty much guaranteed I'll find a way to justify purchasing it.)

I scored these bad girls for something ridiculous, like $32. I also have them in blue, for which I (gladly) paid full price at the beginning of summer. These are so simple, but I love 'em! Love, love, love!

...Or As I Like to Say: Another Year Awesomer

I had the best birthday ever on Sunday. I woke up to a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers with a love note nestled inside.

Then Huz and I got up and rode Sally over to our old stomping grounds in the Mission. We started out at Tartine, where I got a morning bun (definitely one of the most delicious, celebrated and impossible-to-replicate pastries in San Francisco) and he got the Swiss chard and tomato quiche. Mmm!

Tartine had some kooky cut-out characters hanging from the ceiling.

This one was my favorite. I want to be in on the joke!

Afterward, we grabbed tea at Dolores Park Cafe (where we ran into a friend), set up a blanket in Dolores Park and read, people-watched, and caught the first few acts of The Taming of the Shrew before picking up a picnic lunch at Bi-Rite (where I ran into another friend), parking it back in the park for the last few hours of sunshine and then heading over to The Monk's Kettle for beers and tasty treats. Another great thing about San Francisco: it's small enough that you're always running into old friends unexpectedly.

It was my first time at The Monk's Kettle. They have 24 beers on tap and about 120 bottled beers. The beer list was 6 pages of the teeniest print you've ever seen. How cute are these teeny-tiny tasting mugs?

Crispy fries. Curry aioli, herbed aioli and chipotle ketchup.

Speaking of fries. My friend Nancy C. made a friend who she immediately dubbed her Italian BFF. We all fell in love with his t-shirt. (Blow it up and take a look at those golden arches being toppled over!) Thanks to Antonio, who agreed to model for me!

Pre-Birthday Things

On Saturday night, in a concerted effort to try a little less (ha!), I switched up the top and the jewels to meet up with friends at Hotel Biron for some pre-birthday wine and celebrating. My friend G-Star and I were laughing at ourselves after we realized that we were both wearing cinched-waist minis, similar sandals and an armful of bangles.

Just look at this little firecracker. Cute, cute, cute!

Okay, so we're not quite twins (or twins), but still, it had to be documented. Thanks to G-Star for supermodeling!

Purple Haze

I have a big trip coming up that I'm super pumped about. I'll be headed to rural Alaska on Thursday to visit family and will be there through the end of the month. Super excited about this! I won't have Internet access until I get back, but I have posts planned in my absence and I promise to get back to you if you leave comments or email me while I'm away!

Here's what I wore to run some errands downtown on Saturday. As I was crossing a busy intersection near Union Square, I noticed two girls crossing toward me. I have to admit that as we passed each other, I was kinda staring at the girl closest to me. She had neon red hair that was short and spiky, seriously glittery gold eyeshadow, and some kind of layered rainbow chiffon number happening over cutoffs and chunky boots. Due to a spotty memory of her ensemble based on this brief interaction, my description doesn't even come close to doing it justice. All I can say is that I was thinking that she was gusty for pulling all of that together and that the end result was kind of punky and cute.

Anyway, she was staring at me, too, and as we passed each other, she gave me an up-and-down and then turned to her friend and said, "Ugh. Trying too hard."

Ahahahaha! My street style got dissed BIG time!

Oh What a Night

Recently Huz and I celebrated three years of wedded bliss (!!!). However, we didn't get a chance to officially celebrate until last night. I cleaned myself up for a fabulous dinner at Frascati, followed by an after-dinner drink at Cafe Meuse, followed by a quick photo shoot on the roof.

Russet potato gnocchi with peas, asparagus and tomatoes. Yes, please!

Huz (to server): How are the sardines?

Server: To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the sardines here.

Me (surprised): Oh yeah, why's that?

Server: Well, they're really good, but you have to de-bone them yourself, and a lot of people don't like that.

Huz and I look at each other and laugh.

Huz: She's Chinese.

Me: Bring 'em on!

(To clarify: digging through a pile of bones has never stopped a Chinese person in the quest for deliciousness.)
Grilled Monterrey Bay sardines.

Thick-cut pork chop with grilled peach and assorted deliciousness.

Pork chop #2 (that's right) with roasted Brussels sprouts.

Frascati's signature dessert, the black-and-white bread pudding. Hazelnut ice cream on top.

I didn't realize this until now, but I was a walking Banana Republic ad last night. Oops.

Lessons Learned from a Wine S.N.O.B.

Earlier this week I met up with my friend L-Train of Larachka's List for some wine and dishing at S.N.O.B. (Sonoma, Napa Or Beyond). I avoided this place for years on principle (i.e., I was too snobby). But let's face it: wine trumps principles.

We had a great experience. Lesson #1: I'm a snob.

L-Train let me play with her press pass. I tried closing my eyes to look like a serious journalist like she did in her press photo.

But she scoffed at my naivete. Then she demonstrated how one should look if one wants to be taken seriously as a journalist.

Lesson #2: if you are unable to perform Jedi mind tricks, at least have "you should totally let me in here because I AM A MEMBER OF THE PRESS" written all over your face when brandishing your press pass at events where the validity of your press pass is questioned by a person with more authority regarding issues of entrance than you. She assured me this works every time.

We worked on being taken seriously for a while, worked up an appetite, then grabbed dinner at Modern Thai. There were no problems gaining entrance.

Tofu and veggies in "special" gravy.

Shrimp-y, eggplant-y dish. Yum.

Flower Child

I'll be honest. I spent most of the weekend up in Russian River not looking very presentable. However, on Saturday while the dudes went golfing, Nico and I stayed behind to gossip, read gossip mags, talk about how Jillian should have chosen Kiptyn over Ed, hatch a plan to nominate a mutual dude friend to be the next Bachelor (which is really a ploy to force Huz and Mr. Nico to watch the Bachelor with us), and also play dress-up. We also put in some hard work on our tans. It was an exhausting day, really. Thanks to Nico for her excellent photography skills!

Russian River Weekend

You know how summer always slips by so quickly and then you're left wondering where it went and what happened to all your big plans? Well, I'm happy to report that this year, Huz and I have definitely made the most of summer. We've already logged a few long weekends out of the City--most notably Santa Cruz, Clear Lake and over this past weekend, we rented a house with a few friends up in the cute Russian River community of Cazadero. Here's what was what.

As you may have noticed, I enjoy food. A lot. Here are some yummy things we ate on our getaway. At Boon Eat+Drink in Guerneville:

Fennel salumi and pepper sopressata.

Huz, Nico and I all had the halibut with pesto, on a bed of fava beans and arugala. Yum!

Mr. Nico had the burg. He licked the plate.

Before dinner, there was a wait so we headed to the biker bar next door. This was our bartender, who graciously modeled his biker fashions for me as we swapped biker stories. For some reason, he didn't seem impressed when I told him about Sally.

He showed me photos of his custom yellow-and-green Harley and I admit, it was sweet, but what really got me was his dedication to Harley fashion: hat, top, belt and boots, all Harley Davidson. Close up on his belt, which I kinda wanted to swipe.

Now you may not know, but Huz is a master BBQer. Take a gander at some of the goodies we cooked up the next night.

Roasted purple cauliflower from the farmers' market.

Sweet potato fries.

Grilled asparagus.

Grilled zucchini.

Grilled salmon.

This is what a pre-bellyache looks like.

You might be wondering what the heck Huz and friends and I do besides eat. Good question.

One day we took it easy at the river. See?

We also enjoyed the drive along the coast, stopping at Sonoma State Beach.

And, er, we stopped for lunch at The Marshall Store in Marshall.

Where we ran into my friends Jessica and Craig! Here's Jessica, looking fly and summery in her adorable red wayfarers.

I have never been able to resist a crab salad.

Huz has never been able to resist fish tacos.

And a drive down the coast just wouldn't be complete without a dozen of these bad boys.

Hope you guys are having the best summer ever! I am!

A Few Tidbits from a Trip to Trader Joe's

Yesterday I popped into my neighborhood Trader Joe's. As I elbowed my way up to the front of the free coffee stand, I felt someone sidling up to me. Then...

Dude: (quietly) Were you in AA with me last night?
Me: Excuse me?
Dude: I SAID, WERE YOU IN AA LAST NIGHT! (Everyone at the coffee stand turns around and stares at us.)
Me: Nope, wasn't me, sorry.
Dude: I'm sure you were there. I was there, Pete was there...it WAS you! IT WAS YOU! YOU WERE THERE!

So I walk away. But then dude starts stalking me all over the store, saying things like, "You look like you been working out a lot. You been working out a lot?"

And, "I work out a lot, too. I do PT."

And, "You know what a 60-20 is? A 60-20 is...words, words, blah, blah, blah..."

And, "You were in Storm Troopers, huh!"

And, "You should really join the army...I might be your captain, okay!!"

And finally, as I'm checking out and just as I'm being asked for my ID (ooh! carded! Thanks, check-out guy!) for the wine I'm buying, he comes up again and says, "Have a great day! I'll see you in AA!"

I've been told by various people over the years that I have a doppelganger or two wandering around. And to think I coulda been in Storm Troopers!

Just a Quickie

Here's what I wore to grab dim sum at Pearl City last week when the brothers were in town. Nothing fancy, but I do heart the necklace I wore here big time. I love vintage jewels and love them extra when they're made from wood. Oh, and I got these awesome wayfarers from eBay, which I wore twice and then lost forever at the bottom of Clear Lake after they blew off my face while I was tooling around on a jet ski.

These Wedges Were Made for Walkin' (Just Not Down Steep Declines)

I wear these wedges a lot. I mean, a lot. They are the tallest shoes I own and they're also really comfortable. That is, if you don't count teeter-shuffling down one of the steepest blocks in Nob Hill while trying not to EAT IT BIG TIME as the cable car rushes by and tourists scream things like "Woot!" and, "Go, girl!" and a cute little English girl points at you and asks her San Francisco-fleece-wearing tourist mother, "What's wrong with her, Mummy?", which you catch just as you reach the intersection at the bottom of the hill where the cable car stops at the plateau (and where you can resume walking like a normal person) to pick up more tourists before plunging down another hill, where the cute little tourist girl waves back to you with a heartwrenchingly sad look on her face because she's sad for you that you have a walking problem as you start your shuffle-descent down the next block.

Anyway, how amazing is this beaded lariat necklace? Insane.
